For example, by instituting a “no shoes” policy and making sure everyone takes off their shoes when entering your home, it will help prevent dirt, pesticides and other chemicals from outside from being tracked into your home.
Another simple step you can take: Keep houseplants. Just like trees and other plants outside help to clean the air of harmful pollutants, so do plants inside your home. Scientists have even identified certain plants that are most beneficial in removing particular pollutants like benzene and formaldehyde.
