Organic Baby Layette Sets Too Cute to Resist

When I was pregnant with my son, I knew I really wanted his wardrobe to lean green, so I tried to make it as organic as possible. I scoured through racks and piles of clothes at consignment sales to try to find organic pieces and was fortunate to receive many organic clothes as gifts as well, so I felt I had a pretty good set-up of organic clothes before he was born.

Boy, was I wrong. First of all, I had hardly any newborn size clothes. My 18-week ultrasound showed our son was in the 80th percentile, so I thought I’d have a big baby, and one of my friends had assured me that babies outgrow the newborn size so fast, they were unnecessary. That may be true for most babies, but not my son.  He weighed less than 5 lbs. when we brought him home from the hospital — too big for preemie clothes and not quite big enough for newborn sizes. Driven by necessity and frugality, we ended up purchasing a lot of un-organic clothing during his newborn days.

Nevertheless, once he put a few pounds on him, his clothes were mostly organic, which I feel good about.

If you’re in the market for organic baby clothes, here’s a list of my top picks for organic baby layette sets.
